There is a new Trend up to DDR-3 Memory Mdoules. Elixir offers as one of the First Manufactors the new DDR-3 Modules and we are happy about it that we could present you toady this Memory by Elixir !

After the Big Succuess from the DDR-2 Memory, Elixir produce as well DDR-3 2GB Modules. Other Companies make only 1 GB Modules but the Success of the 2 GB DDR-2 Modules was the Reason for Elixir to make their 2 GB Modules.

The new DDR-3  Clock Speed is 1333 MHz and the new Latencys are 8-8-8-24.  These are not different from other Manufactors but it is more difficult to make one Module with higher Capacity at the Same Latencys as a small Module with only 1 GB Capacity. Elixir Memory need only 1,5 Volt Voltage. to get a full stable System !

We could say that its true. Latency´s 8-8-8-24 and 1,5 Volt DRam Voltage and we get a full stable System. But you know that User-Profile wants more than the normal Standard Settings.

We rised up the DRam Voltage and we are so able to oVerclock the hole System . The Intel Quad Core CPU was running at 3,03 GHz ( Standard 2,5 GHz ) and Elixir Memory was running at 1609 MHz instead of 1333 MHz.

Of Course we used the same Latency´s for oVerclocking !! Yes you are right, we get a stable System when we oVerclock the Memory for 276 MHz with the same Lantency´s.

We set the FSB on our Board up to 402 MHz and the DDR-Voltage up to 1,74 Volt. Even now we wanted to get a higher Result than 1609 MHz we get Problems. A unstable System Bluescreens and so on. Other Manufactors lock the memory on the Speed that they are peformed for. Elixir does not lock the Modules to get a little bit more Speed out of them.

As i said it before, Elixir does not lock the Memory, and now we know the Speed and the Performance of the Chips from Elixir. But what about the Price for the Modules ? We don´t know the Price exactly we we think its about 150 Euro for the 4 GB Kit.

But how good are the DDR-3 Modules in direct Compose to other `Companies ?

And now the oVerclocking Values

You could see that we could increase the Performance with our successfull oVerclocking Attemp. And we are not fair to Elixir cause we do not Compare it with 1600 MHz Memory Modules, no we compare it with real oVerclocking Memory Modules by Kingston ( Hyper-X Series PC14400 ). The Hyper-X Series ist optimezed up to 1800 MHz with Latency´s of 8-8-8-24 and max. 1,9 Volt Dram Voltage. When you now take a Look on the Results from Elixir vs Kingston you see that the Elixir Memory is not so far away as you will think.  When you compare the Prices now you will find out that Elixir is very Cheap. The 4 GB Kit is available for about 150 Euros but Kingston Hyper-X costs up to 209 Euro for the 2 GB Kit ( 24.08.2008) !

Rating:

When you set the Optics besides ( Heatsink and so on ) and when you are able to use other Manufactrors as before you will find Elixir as a powerfull Partner for your System. Without any Problems we get the Memory from Elixir through our Test Parcour and even when we want to oVerclock the Modules we get only above 1609 MHz the first Bluescreens. Elixir made a powerfull Memory for a good Price Relationship, but they must do something in optical Things :-)

Quality:		Its all from you Manufactor, Plates Chips and the hole SetupProduktion. But Elxir deliver all Kits without a Heatsink

Summary:		Well, there is nothing more to say, 4 GB DDR-3 Kit with good oVerclocking Perfomance. Thats Great for the Price !!
